Dr. Avi Kober
Research Associate Telephone: 03-5318826 Dr. Avi Kober (Ph.D. Hebrew University) is a lecturer in Political Studies at Bar-Ilan University and Research Associate at the BESA Center. He served in IDF's Planning Department and in the National Security Unit at the Israeli Ministry of Defense, and has been Associate Researcher with PIPES (Program on International Economics and Security) at the University of Chicago. Specialization: Military thought, Israeli national security doctrine and policy, Arab-Israeli wars, and low-intensity conflicts. Publications: Dr. Kober is the author of Battlefield Decision in the Arab-Israeli Wars, 1948-1982 (Tel-Aviv, 1995); Syria and Israel's National Security (Tel-Aviv, 1991). Dr. Kober also published articles on military thought and Israeli security problems, including: "Has Battlefield Decision Become Obsolete?
