Associate Professor. Head of eastern music department at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (since 1996). Director of the music department of “Voice of Israel in Arabic” (1995-2003). Head of the Arab music area in Israel - The Ministry of Education. Founding member of the Bustan Abraham Ensemble (1990-2003). Member of “White Bird” ensemble (since 1990). Committee member of music education programs for all sectors in Israel, Ministry of Education (since 2003). Director & Conductor of the “Orchestra of Oriental Music” – the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance & the Music Center – Mishkenot Shaananim (since 1996). Composer, performer, recording artist and musicologist with special interest in oud and violin; eastern music (theory and practice) and its relationship to other musical cultures; the universal musical elements in composition and performance; learned vs. natural schemata in composition and improvisation.
HONORS AND AWARDS include DAAD: German Academic Exchange Service Scholarship (1992); excellence prize for Outstanding Doctoral Student (2003); first prize in Eastern Violin competition (2002).
