Tzvi
Born in Germany, 1927.
He is one of Israels’ foremost composers. Immigrated to Israel as a child.
Studied music in Israel and the USA, and his works, performed in Israel
and around the world, include symphonic, vocal, chamber, solo and electronic
music. He is the recipient of several prestigious prizes in Israel and
abroad. Since 1971, Prof. Avni has been member of faculty at the
Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music where he was head of the theory and composition
department and director of the electronic music studio. Avni chaired the
music committee of the National Council for Culture and Art, the Israel
Composers’ League and the jury of the International Arthur Rubinstein Piano
Master Competition. He is currently Chairman of the Jeunesses Musicales
Movement in Israel.
