Emma Schaver ז"ל

Emma Schaver ז"ל, was honored by Bar-Ilan University for her distinguished contribution to Yiddish Culture. She was identified with the cause of Israel, Jewish education and Hebrew Yiddish culture. Emma Schaver was cherished in Jewish communities all over the world for her inspirational rendition of Yiddish Art songs and Folk songs. Holocaust survivors throughout the world recall with fondest sentiment the comfort and inspiration she brought to them in the camps after World War II. She was one of the co-founders of the Rena Costa Center for Yiddish Studies, and one of its most devoted supporters.

Mrs. Emma Schaver

With great sorrow we heard of the death of your mother Emma Schaver, may she rest in peace.

We are proud to be the beneficiaries of her generous support as co-founder in 1983 of the Rena Costa Center for Yiddish Studies. Her generosity made it possible for hundreds of students to attend the Center and immerse themselves in the study of the Yiddish language and culture.
Emma Schaver was closely identified with Israel, Jewish education and Yiddish culture. Her name was cherished in Jewish communities all over the world for her inspirational redention of Yiddish Art songs and Folk songs. Holocaust survivors throughout the world recall with fondest sentiments the comfort and inspiration she brought to them by touring the camps just after World War II.
