Geoffrey Smith, Adviser and Research Fellow in Education, Member of the Christian Friends of Israel

In a message dated 5/5/2005 8:37:54 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, Geoffrey Smith (M.A, Med) writes:

Dear Sirs,

As a sign of solidarity I wish to apply for an honorary affiliate
appointment with the Universities of Haifa and Bar Ilan.

I have an MA degree from Cambridge and an MEd from Bristol University where
I became a Research Fellow in Education.
I was a founder member of the University of Papua New Guinea as Senior
Lecturer in Education and established an Education Planning Unit in the
Ministry of Education at the request of the government. Subsequently I was
employed by the Commonwealth Secretariat in London as an adviser in
Education specializing in education planning and inspection and arranged
conferences in the Africa and Asia Pacific regions as well as serving at
Ministerial Meetings of Commonwealth Law Ministers, Health Ministers and
Cabinet Secretaries.

Since my first visit to Israel in 1990 I have returned there at least 40
times and by invitation from Professor Reuven Feuerstein I attended the
Advisory Committee of the International Centre for Enhancement of Learning
Potential.

Publications include 30 articles in refereed journals, and "Educational
planning in Papua New Guinea", published by the Melbourne University Press,
"LEA Advisers and Educational Innovation"(joint author) NFER Publishing
Co., "Christians and Israel in Focus" CFI-UK 2005.
I am a member of the National Council Committee of the Zionist Federation
of Great Britain and licensed as Reader in the Anglican Dioceses of Papua
New Guinea, Southwark, Exeter, and Jerusalem.

I am currently employed as Deputy Director of Christian Friends of Israel -
UK, and for the last four years I have broadcast a weekly Israel update for
United Christian Broadcasters and appeared on BBC radio, Revelation TV, and
local radio in Norfolk, Sussex, Leeds and the Isle of Man on programmes
related to Israel.

Referees: I am known to the following - Professor Eric Moonman, President
of the ZF, and Gerry Adler formerly Adjunct Professor of International Law
at the Technion, Haifa.
