The Israel Musicological Society (IMS) was founded in 1967 in order to further musicological research and to aid in the fostering of musical life in Israel. At present there are about 200 IMS members in Israel; overseas, some 150 individuals and institutions are subscribed to Israel Studies in Musicology, the society's print journal. Around June-July the IMS holds its Annual Meeting, a forum for the presentation of recent research by Israeli musicologists and guests from abroad.
The IMS is now exploring a new avenue of publication: Min-ad: Israel Studies in Musicology Online.
To join the IMS, please send us a note with your name, address, affiliation, and e-mail address (if any), together with a check (in Israeli Shekels or US dollar equivalent) made out to the Israel Musicological Society. Our address is:
Dr. Rachel Kollender, Treasurer
New IMS members will receive a complimentary copy of Israel Studies in Musicology, vol. 6 (released July 1996). IMS members with an e-mail account will receive via e-mail the Table of Contents of new Min-ad issues as they are released.
The IMS is a volunteer organization funded entirely by membership dues and contributions by generous individuals and institutions. Should you be interested in supporting the IMS with a contribution of $100 or more, kindly contact Dr. Kollender.
The IMS is supported by the Musicology Departments of the Hebrew University, Tel-Aviv University, and Bar-Ilan University.
The IMS is indebted to the Bar-Ilan University Center for IT & IS, for hosting this Home Page.
