Mattias Lundberg is a Ph. D. candidate at the University of Liverpool,
where his research topic, ‘The Tonus Peregrinus in the Polyphony of the
Western Church’, is supervised by Professor M. O. Talbot. A pro gradu report
on this research was delivered at the annual conference of the Swedish
Society of Musicology at the University of Göteborg in June 2003.
A presentation on the concepts of migration and peregrination in Jewish
and Christian liturgies will be given at the Centre for Research in the
Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Cambridge in
Other research interests include all facets of liturgical music, early music theory (particularly the didactic counterpoint of Burtius, Ramis de Pareia, Gaffurius and Tinctoris), reflections of Lutheran orthodoxy in music and national styles in sixteenth-century polyphony.
Mr. Lundberg is a member of the Sixteenth Century Society and a book reviewer for the Sixteenth Century Journal.
