-- New!! --

Bar-Ilan University's Virtual Jewish University (VJU) offers students around the world full undergraduate and graduate credit for academic study through the Internet, transferable to global universities of distinction.

For the fall 1999 semester (beginning Monday, October 4, 1999) six courses in Jewish studies are being offered, taught in English by some of the most prominent academics in the field.

Check out this semester's course offerings on the VJU main homepage!

Individuals around the world of any age, creed, denomination or standing, who have the ability and minimal prerequisites necessary to complete the academic-level assignments - can take one or more of the VJU courses. Formal paid registration is required.

Students enrolled at universities and colleges around the world, in any discipline and at any level, can receive from Bar-Ilan University academic credit with a internationally-recognized transcript for their studies, transferable to their home institution.

Bar-Ilan University advisors are available, online, and in person in Israel and the United States, to assist students in ensuring their acceptance to the VJU; in making their course selections; and in securing recognition for the transfer of credits to their home college or university.

The VJU employs state-of-the-art technologies and teaching software custom-developed by Dr. David Schwartz, editor of the International Journal of Internet Research, and director of the information systems division at Bar-Ilan University's Graduate School of Business Administration in the S. Daniel Abraham Center for Economics and Business.

The unique software allows for real-time professor-student interaction; classroom "discussion" and tutorials; direct access of the student to the lecturer for assistance; faculty tracking of a student's progress; the use of many audio and visual aids; the submission and grading of academic assignments; and formal, secure examination.

The VJU has been developed in consultation with, and with the support of, leading Jewish studies scholars at the university and abroad. The courses and curricula developed seek to impart advanced knowledge and cutting-edge scholarship in a manner comprehensible and welcoming to a broad range of students.

The VJU is a project of Bar-Ilan University's International Center for Jewish Identity.
