BAR-ILAN INSTITUTE OF NANOTECHNOLOGY & ADVANCED MATERIALS | 2019 ANNUAL REPORT

Graduates and Undergraduates The successful M.Sc. program in nanotechnology has been around for more than a decade. The program stays up-to-date with scientific developments in the field, providing students with knowledge in a wide variety of topics through specialized courses taught by outstanding young faculty recruits. The Advanced Laboratory course continues to attract both master’s and doctoral students, who gain hands-on, supervised training on BINA’s scientific instrumentation and cleanroom facilities. Graduate students are critical to researchers’ success, which is why providing the best possible education for Israeli students at all levels remains a BINA priority. BINA has, on average, 350 students training at master and doctoral levels. Of these students, 20% receive BINA’s sought-after Excellence Scholarship, an extra stipend offered in addition to the standard university scholarship. To date, 934 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students have graduated from BINA programs. During 2019, 24 students completed their Master’s degree. The Advanced Lab course includes two supervised projects which provide broad exposure to nanofabrication techniques, advanced analytical tools, and challenges that can be addressed through applied nanoscience research. This year, 33 Ph.D. candidates successfully completed their doctorates. These newly-minted Ph.D.s will pursue their careers in the industry and in post- doctoral positions.
