Outstanding students were awarded the KLA Merit Scholarship. At the end of the day, we announced the students eligible for the Excel@BINA scholarship for the next year. To date, 4,605 MSc and PhD students have completed BINA programs that include diverse curricula, advanced research and exposure to nanofabrication techniques, acquisition of advanced analytical tools and experience of challenges that can be addressed through applied nanoscience research. The hands-on work using advanced equipment and the exposure to an industry that works at and receives services at BINA increase our students’ informal skills. The newly minted degree holders will pursue their careers in the industry and in academia as PhDs or in postdoctoral positions. International Initiatives One significant factor in the institute’s expansion and success is international connections. Like in the past four years, this year too we emphasized BINA’s internationalization, empowering our researchers with many opportunities to collaborate with colleagues worldwide, exposing their work to a growing body of potential partners. The successful cooperation we consolidated in recent years with the Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute (CATRIN) of Palacký University Olomouc (UP), the Czech Republic, taught us that there are many challenges worth taking part in when it comes to EU Widening countries. The mutual interest in forming such collaborations brought us in 2022 to universities in Kosovo, including University for Business and Technology (UBT), and universities in Georgia, including Georgian Technical University (GTU) and Kutaisi International University (KIU). Being a part of such networks boosts BINA’s impact. This year, we joined as members of the International Network4Sustainable Nanotechnology (N4SNano). The mission of N4SNano is to foster discovery and advancements in nanotechnology and applications as essential mechanisms for sustainability—focusing on bringing positive and impactful solutions to society in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG). We participated in the organizing committee of the 2022 annual conference 41
