BIU to Award Honorary Doctorate to Musician Aviv Geffen
The honorary doctorate ceremony will take place on the Bar-Ilan University campus in Ramat Gan on Monday, June 3
Next month Bar-Ilan University will award an honorary doctorate to singer and composer Aviv Geffen.
"Bar-Ilan University is honored to award you the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Honoris Causa for 2024,” wrote University President Prof. Arie Zaban in a letter to Geffen on behalf of the university degree committee. “In awarding this degree the committee acknowledges the honorable values that have guided you on your creative and moral artistic and cultural path, and for the work you do for the betterment of Israeli society. "
In his letter Zaban added, "During this particularly complex year, Bar-Ilan University wishes to recognize the extraordinary ability and courage to invite all of us and our country to rise up and love one another, and to lead and influence through actions impacting upon our people and our nation both in the present and in the future. The milestones in your journey are exemplary in our eyes and worthy of a platform that recognizes their contribution. This is what we wish to achieve by awarding you this honorary degree."
The honorary doctorate ceremony will take place on the Bar-Ilan University campus in Ramat Gan on Monday, June 3, in the framework of the University’s annual Board of Trustees meetings and in the presence of friends from Israel and around the world.
