Prof. Daniela Dueck is the dean of the faculty of Humanities. The faculty includes 11 departments which offer rich curricula of studies in central humanistic disciplines: history, philosophy, comparative literature, English ךiterature and linguistics, music, classics, Asian studies, Arabic, translation studies, French studies, and information sciences.

As the dean of the faculty of Humanities, Prof. Dueck strives to position the faculty as a center of excellent research, preservation of knowledge and cultural creativity. She sees the faculty of humanities as an important part of any university and as a leading factor both in the scholarly sphere and in the current Israeli society. 

Prof. Dueck specializes in the history and culture of Classical antiquity. She wrote her MA thesis at the Hebrew university on "India in the eyes of the Greeks until Alexander the Great." Her PhD dissertation was on "Strabo's Geography as an Augustan work". Her academic research focuses on ancient geography, on textual transmission and on various aspects of textuality and culture in the ancient world.
