The Bar-Ilan University campus spans 140 acres of cultivated gardens and greenery, irrigated with a smart, cost-efficient system. Stationed along the campus pathways are receptacles for recyclable waste materials. A free electric campus shuttle service serves to reduce vehicular traffic and harmful emissions. In addition, projects to ensure environmental sustainability operate on campus:

COVID-19 and Holocaust Survivors

Holocaust survivors have exhibited a wide range of emotional reactions to, and ways of dealing with, the COVID-19 pandemic. Some are dealing well with the current crisis while some experience considerable difficulties. The way they cope with the current crisis is largely derived from how they deal with their traumatic memories of the Holocaust. 

2020-21 Academic Year to Begin Via Zoom

Bar-Ilan University is prepared for hybrid learning, combining frontal and online learning, as outlined in a blueprint formulated over the summer by University administrators. Due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the academic year will begin via Zoom learning, in accordance with an announcement issued by the Council of Israeli University Presidents.

New Entrepreneurial Agreement Signed

Bar-Ilan University, which established UnBox Ventures, has signed a cooperation agreement with the Wolfson Medical Center. UnBox Ventures is a platform that creates, curates, and invests in startups founded by Bar-Ilan researchers and off-campus entrepreneurs that have potential to make positive global impact. These projects bring "disruptive innovation" to various aspects of health related to the body, mind, spirit, society, and the environment.

Meet Lea Barak

Israeli author, lecturer and educator, Lea Barak, of Raanana, is a member of Bar-Ilan University’s third graduating class. Today, at nearly 80, she continues to be active and imbued with a creative muse. Her latest novel “At the Last Moment” deals with the Yemenite Children Affair and was published amid renewed interest in the fate of Yemenite immigrant children separated from their parents in the early years (1948-1954) of the State of Israel, in circumstances that have yet to be made public.

Meet Dr. Or Anabi

Meet Dr. Or Anabi, a graduate of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Bar-Ilan University, who is currently a researcher at the Israel Democracy Institute’s Guttman Center for Public Opinion and Policy Research. The Institute prepares diverse research studies on the perceptions of the Israeli public, including the Israeli Democracy Index, the Israeli Voice Index and now, also surveys relating to Israel during the Corona pandemic.

Meet Orlando Marin

Meet Orlando Marin, of Costa Rica and Taiwan, who made a novel scientific breakthrough while pursuing his doctorate in Physics and Chemistry at Bar-Ilan’s Institute for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials (BINA). Orlando discovered a new strategy for the formation of faceted nanoparticles in sizes, materials and shapes, which had been previously unachievable by any other method. “These nanoparticles open new routes towards the self-assembly of photonic crystals, and also towards the nanotechnology-based applications in medicine,” says Prof.

Meet Omri Cohen

Meet Omri Cohen, 33, a third-year student at Bar-Ilan University’s Azrieli Faculty of Medicine and President of the Medical Student Association of the Galilee. Born and raised in Petach Tikvah, the former lawyer and Israeli Navy Command and Operation Officer is enrolled in the Faculty’s three-year MD study track for Israelis who completed three years of pre-clinical medical studies abroad. Glad to be back in Israel after attending medical school in Italy, Omri is engaged in clinical work at Safed’s Ziv Medical Center – one of six area hospitals affiliated with the Azrieli Faculty.
