Prof. Michal Alberstein is the Dean of the Faculty of Law at Bar-Ilan University and directs the faculty’s Clinic for Judicial Dispute Resolution. Prof. Alberstein develops an AI-based platform to facilitate conflict resolution supported by an ERC grant from the European Union.

Her research focuses are mediation, adjudication in an age of compromise, alternative legal movements, legal theory and formalism, trauma and memory, identity, and conflict resolution.

Prof. Alberstein has written dozens of articles, directed worldwide research, and taught these topics extensively.

Prof. Alberstein's book "The Theory of Mediation," published by Magnes and the University of Haifa, deals with the intellectual roots of the practice of conflict resolution in the field of law. Her book, Pragmatism and Law: From Philosophy to Dispute Resolution, written in English, focuses on the intellectual roots of the ADR movement in the USA. "Alternative Justice," another one of Prof. Alberstein's books, published by Modan, examines common organizing principles for various alternative legal movements. Prof. Alberstein's upcoming book, "Under Trauma," deals with collective trauma and memory in Israeli society.
